TUTEN MAPU is the alter ego of Martín Rodríguez. It was the name of the farm his grandfather owned in Buchardo, Córdoba, where Martín was born in 1976. In the Mapuche language, it means "Beautiful Land," which is precisely what he aims to offer with his music.
TUTEN MAPU (pronounced Tutén Mápu) combines the depth and emotional intensity of traditional folk music with the avant-garde essence of electronic music. A project where the song takes center stage, driven by solid composition and innovative interpretation.
Martín Rodríguez is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. His musical identity was shaped by Córdoba and Buenos Aires, developing a style that embraces and blends genres such as rock, pop, folk, jazz, and electronic music.
He was influenced by his musician father and his great mentor, Juan Carlos Ciallella, studying harmony and composition at the National University of Villa María. His musical journey was also enriched by the various bands he played in as a bassist and guitarist.
In 2014, he moved to Buenos Aires, where he began working as a musician with Tweety González and later as a co-producer at Twitin Records. He has also played and recorded with artists such as Lisandro Aristimuño, Benjamin Biolay, Rayos Láser, Ulises Butrón, Minino Garay, Paola Bernal, and Vivi Pozzebón, among others.
He composes original music for theater productions, including Gambeta (Nosotros Fuimos) by Gustavo Sassi, Los Infelices. La pesca terminó by Darío Bonheur, and Antígona Sensual by Facundo Zilberberg. Additionally, he has performed live in the plays La Voluntad by Eva Halac and Antígona Sensual, both directed by Hernán Márquez.
Since 2021, he has performed as TUTEN MAPU, exploring both ancestral and modern musical landscapes to create timeless works—universal yet deeply personal.
